In this section we have collected some insider tips for you by students in Berlin. It’s a mix of good deals and good pieces of advice.

Good deals

Get 2 Card

2 for 1 deals or discounts at a bunch of Get-2-partners (Restaurants, Bars, Movie Theaters, Museums, Shows, Theaters, Wellness, Rental services, Shopping, Hotels, etc.). The Get2Card membership costs 66 € per year. Each year in December they have a special offer of getting 2 Get2Cards for the price of 1. If you have a friend who also is interested in a Get2Card, you should apply together. Than each one of you will only need to pay 33 €. If you are an active person who likes to go out for dinner often or events, this card will pay off for you.

There is also a 7 days pass for tourists available for the price of 24 €

Allmaxx

It is a shopping club only for students which offers you a payback system. It either costs 36 € per year or you can get it sponsored by one of their partners by opening a bank account for free. We do not recommend that you pay the membership fee. But a sponsored membership could work for you if you are a buyer of the partner brands. Just check out their website and see yourself if this is any good for you.

2nd Hand Markets

If you are looking for 2nd hand goods (i.e. bike, fridge, furniture) you could try the semi-weekly paper “Zweite Hand” which is sold Wednesdays and Saturdays. It’s also available online at here, but the printed version is more comprehensive. There are even sometimes offers of people who give away goods for free. Other great websites for finding deals include craigslist which usually has a lot of English offerings and Ebay Kleinanzeigen. All of them are of course usefull to if you need to sell stuff yourself.

Some say that the “Garage” is the best 2nd hand shop (clothes) in Berlin where you pay per kilo (around 15€/kg). Address here.
If you want to compare the “Garage” with other stores here you will find a list of 2nd hand shops in Berlin here
