Christmas markets "Weihnachtsmarkt"

Some Christmas markets open in November, but most of them will not open until the 1st of December and are traditionally open until Christmas Eve "Heiligabend" the 24th of December. Since everyone loves Christmas markets, last years some markets on Kurfürstendamm stayed open until New Year’s Eve.
The most famous ones are at Gendarmenmarkt, Kurfürstendamm, Schloss Charlottenburg, Unter den Linden (Opernpalais) and Rathaus Spandau. The following link provides an overview of all "Weihnachstmärkte."
Tip: "Glühwein" (hot spiced wine punch) is the ultimate drink at the “Weihnachtsmarkt”.

IIn case you get depressed during the winter season, we recommend you to take a sun bath in a solaria or take a short trip to Tropical Island, where you can even stay over the night.

Berliners love to sit out in the sun, getting tanned, reading a book, doing a picnick…simply hanging out.

- Former Flughafen Tempelhof used to be an airport but has opened in summer 2010 as a big public park

- The former Görlitzer Bahnhof used to be a train station. Today it is a park.
- Lietzenseepark
- Volkspark Friedrichshain
- Buga (big, beautifull & flowerfull, but they charge a cover of about 2 €)

Since the crowd in the parks differs, we suggest you go out to discover your favorite one.

Tip: There is a beer garden called "Cafe am Neuen See" in the Tiergarten. There you can also rent little canoes and paddle around in the water. Canoeing is also fun at Schlachtensee.
